Viair’s 450P is their first 12 volt air compressor with an automatic shutoff function.The 450P is the big brother to the 400P.It too has the goods as far as filling tires fast.Even tires 37 inches and larger.

Unlike the 400p,the 450p has a duty cycle rating of 100%.What that means for you is that it won’t have to be rested after a short period of time.It is able to keep going longer which is great when filling up those larger tires.

The automatic shutoff function actually powers down the compressor when it is not actively filling tires or whatever you are using it for.This feature will go a long way towards extending the life of the compressor as well as cutting down on the amount of power that is consumed during it’s use.The automatic shutoff function will also help with the drain on your vehicles battery and the strain on the alternator.

Just like the 400P,the 450P has an 8 foot power cable with heavy duty battery clamp connectors so that you can hook directly to your vehicles battery.The 8 foot length of the cable should be long enough to allow you to place the compressor on the ground for better stability when running.

The built in base is filled with sand to help reduce vibration while running.The reduction in vibration is a big help in keeping the compressor from jumping around,something that other brands tend to do.

The Viair 450P is a bit bigger than the 400P.It is longer at 12.5 inches,wider at 6 inches and slightly taller at 7.25 inches.While that may not seem to be much,it could be if you don’t have a lot of storage room.Along with the extra size is an increase in weight as well with the 450P weighing 12.7 pounds versus the 400p’s lighter 8.5 pounds.Again,something to keep in mind.
